Can LifeVac be used multiple times?
Yes, the LifeVac unit can be used repeatedly during the same emergency. However, if a LifeVac has been used, we recommend replacing your device before using it on another person for sanitary reasons. If you have used your LifeVac device, please fill out our Report a LifeVac Usage form to receive a free replacement.
Does the LifeVac expire? When should masks be replaced?
While the LifeVac device itself never expires, our mask manufacturer recommends replacing the masks every two to three years, or by the expiration date on the packaging. We also recommend periodically inspecting the masks for any signs of wear.
Why shouldn't I keep the mask attached to the unit?
We do not recommend storing the unit with a mask attached, as in a choking emergency, you will determine which size mask—adult or pediatric—is appropriate. If the wrong mask is already attached, it could make it difficult to switch to the correct size and delay your response.
Can LifeVac be stored in extreme temperatures?
It is recommended to avoid prolonged storage in extreme temperatures; however, testing shows LifeVac functions properly after such exposure.
How do I remove the mask from the unit?
Grip the mask with your four fingers outside and thumb inside; then twist and pull. Note: the mask does not need to be flush with the face of the device. If the mask is inserted too far into the unit, it may be difficult to remove.
